We will pick you up upon your arrival in Lima and transfer to your selected hotel. You will then have some free time to rest and prepare for starting your trip around this magical country. You will stay overnight in Lima.
Early in the morning we will transfer you back to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival we will transfer you to the hotel. You will have a free morning to rest and acclimatize to the alltitude. In the afternoon we will take you on a city tour of cusco visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. We will have a pleasant walk in the bohemian district of San Blas, where you will find the most famous arts and crafts of Cusco. We will visit its beautiful church to admire its impressive carved wooden pulpit, with images of local fruits and carved filigree. After we will visit some art shops in the small square of San Blas. We will then return to the centre of Cusco, we will go down the street 'Hatunrumiyoc' which has the famous Twelve-angled stone. Then we will leave the city to visit the Inka sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, built strategically on a hill overlooking Cusco; famous for its enormous carved stones joined with astounding precision to form the outer walls. Some of these stones stand over 9m / 30ft tall and weigh over 350 tons. You will have a free night to yourself.
The day starts with an early morning transfer to Cusco train station for a four hour train journey to the famous Inka City of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost City of the inkas". You will arrive at Aguas Calientes station and to follow will be a 30 minute bus drive, climbing 6km of winding roads untill you reach the incredible Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, we´ll participate in a guided tour of the City, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour you will have time to stroll around the archaeological site at your leisure. We will then take the bus back to Aguas calientes for lunch and then take an afternoon train back to Cusco and then transfer you back to your hotel.
Today will be an excursion to the "Sacred Valley of the Inkas", a succession of picturesque towns, agricultural terraces and archaeological sites. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, we´ll have the opportunity to bargain with vendors at the Pisac typical Indian market, with a catholic mass service on Sunday (celebrated in Quechua, the native language). Lunch will be at a local restaurant. In the afternoon we will pass through Calca and Urubamba to arrive to the Inka Fortress and City of Ollantaytambo, which was built to guard the entry of this part of the valley and protect it from enemies of the lower jungles; consisting of a series of terraces of carved stones accessed by long staircases. We will have the opportunity to walk through the quaint streets of the nearby town, religious and agricultural centre from the Inka Empire. You will get a clear idea as to how strategically important this military base was. On our way back to Cusco we will visit the picturesque Andean village of Chinchero where the remains of what was the royal hacienda of Tupac Inka Yupanqui lies. You will also get to admire its well preserved inka Wall at the Main Square and visit the beautiful colonial temple built on inka foundations, with interesting frescoes on the portico. We will arrive back to Cusco in the afternoon.
After breakfast we will transfer you from your hotel to the bus station for your departure to Puno. Upon your arrival we will transfer you to your selected hotel. Here you will have a free evening for personal activities.
Early in the morning, we will take an unforgettable motorboat excursion on the waters of Titicaca Lake to the unique "Floating Islands" of the Uros. These ancient inhabitants of the lake, known as the Water Tribe, have built their own "islands" by periodically adding new layers of a type of reed unique to the area called "totora" (Scirpus Totora), vegetable fibre from the Papiro family. Their homes and boats are also made from this material. We will continue our motorboat trip to Taquile island, inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives who have developed efficient and unique social systems, as well as fine hand weaving techniques, down through generations. After lunch in a local Taquile inn, we will have a walk through the various hills and archaeological sites of this 6 km long island. In the afternoon we will return to Puno to stay the night in your selected hotel.
Early in the morning we will transfer you to Juliaca airport to take your flight to Lima. On the way to the airport, we will visit the famous Chullpas of Sillustani: stone cylinder burial chambers used by the Aymaras to bury their important leaders. Lake Umayo, located in front of the Chullpas, adds further beauty to the place. Here you also have the opportunity to observe several local typical birds. Upon arrival in Lima we will transfer you to your selected hotel.
When you're ready we will transfer you back to Lima airport for your international flight.
