We will pick you up upon your arrival in Lima and transfer to your selected hotel. You will then have some free time to rest and prepare for starting your trip around this magical country. You will stay overnight in Lima.
Early in the morning we will transfer you back to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival we will transfer you to the hotel. You will have a free morning to rest and acclimatize to the alltitude. In the afternoon we will take you on a city tour of cusco visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. We will have a pleasant walk in the bohemian district of San Blas, where you will find the most famous arts and crafts of Cusco. We will visit its beautiful church to admire its impressive carved wooden pulpit, with images of local fruits and carved filigree. After we will visit some art shops in the small square of San Blas. We will then return to the centre of Cusco, we will go down the street 'Hatunrumiyoc' which has the famous Twelve-angled stone. Then we will leave the city to visit the Inka sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, built strategically on a hill overlooking Cusco; famous for its enormous carved stones joined with astounding precision to form the outer walls. Some of these stones stand over 9m / 30ft tall and weigh over 350 tons. You will have a free night to yourself.
The day starts with an early morning transfer to Cusco train station for a four hour train journey to the famous Inka City of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost City of the inkas". You will arrive at Aguas Calientes station and to follow will be a 30 minute bus drive, climbing 6km of winding roads untill you reach the incredible Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, we´ll participate in a guided tour of the City, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour you will have time to stroll around the archaeological site at your leisure. We will then take the bus back to Aguas calientes for lunch and then take an afternoon train back to Cusco and then transfer you back to your hotel.
Early in the morning we will transfer you back to the airport to take a flight to Lima. Upon your arrival we will pick you up and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon we will take the city tour of the "City of Kings" including the Historical Center of Lima, visiting Main Square, Government Palace, City Hall, the Cathedral (where the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, conqueror of Peru, is located), Cathedral´s Museum, Temple of Santo Domingo (tombs of Santa Rosa and San Martin), Temple of San Pedro, Lima Colonial Balconies, Torre Tagle Palace, Paseo de Aguas and Convent de los Descalzos. Then, we will drive through the residential district of San Isidro, visiting El Olivar Park; Miraflores, visiting the Kennedy Park, Love Park and Larcomar Mall. We will then return to your hotel where you will stay the night.
Our personnel will meet and greet you at the airport in Iquitos. They will then transfer you to the river dock where you will begin the trip to our lodge. Along the way you will briefly sightsee Iquitos, looking at the most important tourist sites of this jungle city founded in the 19th Century. We will then travel down the greatest river in the world, the Amazon. Onboard comfortable and safe motorboats. The trip will allow you to see a marvelous panorama in which the magnificence of the Amazon makes its way through the exuberance of the jungle, where picturesque villages that appear on the shores of the river. We will then arrive at the Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge. Our lodge is built in the native-style, it is surrounded by trees, plants and flowers, a true tropical garden where birds and butterflies are abundant. While your expert naturalist guide explains about the lodge facilities and the activities to come, our staff will serve you with a refreshing “welcome drink” made with some exotic fruit.
It starts with a short walk (or canoe ride according to the rain season) to a Yagua tribe community, one of the most ancient ethnic groups of the amazon rainforest. Here you will have the chance to try the “pucuna” or blowgun. We will then return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will proceed with an ethno botanic tour around the lodge, you will be able to distinguish certain species of the plant. We will then visit the “shaman” who will explain about the particularities of the regional flora and its applications. You will then have a tour of the Santa María del Ojeal farmlands where you will see the artisan sugar cane squeeze. You will also visit a fish farm to observe native ichthyologic species and walk around a typical village on the shores of the Amazon. After we will have lunch. Evening excursion…Amazon legends… At an indicated time in the evening we will take a canoe or walk through the jungle to really get a sense of jungle life after dark. We will then return to the lodge for supper. After enjoying a delightful meal, the guide will amuse you with tales and legends from the great Amazon. Also, if you desire there will be a chance to play music and sing with our personnel.
Today will be a full day exploring the primary jungle reserve on the Yanayacu River ecosystem. We will travel in open boats on the Amazon River to spot pink dolphins, the main characters of fantastic tales and legends told by the river people. After Arriving in the Huashalado Village we will take a short walk to the Yanayacu River, where another boat will be waiting to take you on this excursion. You will enter the “Kingdom of the Giant Trees”, which has been given its name due to the size reached by some trees. Amongst them the “lupuna” or ceiba. This is a favorite site for birds, since it is on the river they find loads of fish and fruit that grows on its edges; furthermore, the thick forest offers ideal possibilities for nestling. With a bit of luck, you could also spot monkeys moving on the tree tops or maybe a sloth hanging from a branch. We will then have a packed lunch in the boat or on the edge of the river. We will then do a jungle hike by trail (or canoe ride according to the season) in which you will observe types of plants and trees from this ecosystem like the Victoria Regia, which reaches 1.80 m in diameter. We will then return to the Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge. On the way you will have the chance to do native-style fishing for piranhas, mojarras and other species. On arrival to the Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge. If you wish, there will be an evening canoe ride or if you decide not to you could comfortably sway on a hammock or enjoy an exotic drink at the “Clavohuasca Bar”. Then supper and bed.
We will return to Iquitos via the Amazon River. At a convenient time we will transfer you back to the airport to take your flight back to Lima.
