We will pick you up upon your arrival in Lima and transfer to your selected hotel. You will then have some free time to rest and prepare for starting your trip around this magical country. You will stay overnight in Lima.
Early in the morning we will transfer you back to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival we will transfer you to the hotel. You will have a free morning to rest and acclimatize to the alltitude. In the afternoon we will take you on a city tour of cusco visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. We will have a pleasant walk in the bohemian district of San Blas, where you will find the most famous arts and crafts of Cusco. We will visit its beautiful church to admire its impressive carved wooden pulpit, with images of local fruits and carved filigree. After we will visit some art shops in the small square of San Blas. We will then return to the centre of Cusco, we will go down the street 'Hatunrumiyoc' which has the famous Twelve-angled stone. Then we will leave the city to visit the Inka sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, built strategically on a hill overlooking Cusco; famous for its enormous carved stones joined with astounding precision to form the outer walls. Some of these stones stand over 9m / 30ft tall and weigh over 350 tons. You will have a free night to yourself.
Today will be an excursion to the "Sacred Valley of the Inkas", a succession of picturesque towns, agricultural terraces and archaeological sites. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, we´ll have the opportunity to bargain with vendors at the Pisac typical Indian market, with a catholic mass service on Sunday (celebrated in Quechua, the native language). Lunch will be at a local restaurant. In the afternoon we will pass through Calca and Urubamba to arrive to the Inka Fortress and City of Ollantaytambo, which was built to guard the entry of this part of the valley and protect it from enemies of the lower jungles; consisting of a series of terraces of carved stones accessed by long staircases. We will have the opportunity to walk through the quaint streets of the nearby town, religious and agricultural centre from the Inka Empire. You will get a clear idea as to how strategically important this military base was. On our way back to Cusco we will visit the picturesque Andean village of Chinchero where the remains of what was the royal hacienda of Tupac Inka Yupanqui lies. You will also get to admire its well preserved inka Wall at the Main Square and visit the beautiful colonial temple built on inka foundations, with interesting frescoes on the portico. We will arrive back to Cusco in the afternoon.
The day starts with an early morning transfer to Cusco train station for a four hour train journey to the famous Inka City of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost City of the inkas". You will arrive at Aguas Calientes station and to follow will be a 30 minute bus drive, climbing 6km of winding roads untill you reach the incredible Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, we´ll participate in a guided tour of the City, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour you will have time to stroll around the archaeological site at your leisure. We will then take the bus back to Aguas calientes for lunch and then take an afternoon train back to Cusco and then transfer you back to your hotel.
Early in the morning we will transfer you back to the airport to take your return flight to Lima. Upon your arrival we will pick you up and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon we will take the city tour of the "City of Kings" including the Historical Center of Lima, visiting Main Square, Government Palace, City Hall, the Cathedral (where the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, conqueror of Peru, is located), Cathedral´s Museum, Temple of Santo Domingo (tombs of Santa Rosa and San Martin), Temple of San Pedro, Lima Colonial Balconies, Torre Tagle Palace, Paseo de Aguas and Convent de los Descalzos. Then, we will drive through the residential district of San Isidro, visiting El Olivar Park; Miraflores, visiting the Kennedy Park, Love Park and Larcomar Mall. We will then return to your hotel where you will stay the night.
Very early in the morning we will pick up from your hotel and transfer you to the bus station for a four hour drive through the Panamericana highway to Ica, wine capital of Peru. After arrival to Las Dunas Hotel we will immediately transfer you to the local airport to board a propeller plane to fly over the enigmatic Nazca lines. Enormous line drawings of animals, birds and geometrical figures that still remain etched in the desert, which can only be appreciated from the air. After flying over the Nazca lines we will take a city tour of Ica visiting modern and traditional districts, the Sanctuary of Luren, the Regional Museum of Archeology to know a little more about the Nazca and Paracas pre-Inka cultures and the legendary town of wizards and witches called Cachiche. Then we will drive towards the Huacachina Lagoon, to explore its natural beauty and to taste some of the most delicious wines and piscos of this region. Late in the afternoon we will transfer you back to Ica bus station for your return drive to Lima where you will spend the night.
When you're ready we will transfer you back to Lima airport for your international flight.
