We will pick you up upon your arrival in Lima and transfer to your selected hotel. You will then have some free time to rest and prepare for starting your trip around this magical country. You will stay overnight in Lima.
Early in the morning we will transfer you back to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival we will transfer you to the hotel. You will have a free morning to rest and acclimatize to the alltitude. In the afternoon we will take you on a city tour of cusco visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. We will have a pleasant walk in the bohemian district of San Blas, where you will find the most famous arts and crafts of Cusco. We will visit its beautiful church to admire its impressive carved wooden pulpit, with images of local fruits and carved filigree. After we will visit some art shops in the small square of San Blas. We will then return to the centre of Cusco, we will go down the street 'Hatunrumiyoc' which has the famous Twelve-angled stone. Then we will leave the city to visit the Inka sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, built strategically on a hill overlooking Cusco; famous for its enormous carved stones joined with astounding precision to form the outer walls. Some of these stones stand over 9m / 30ft tall and weigh over 350 tons. You will have a free night to yourself.
After breakfast the bus will pick us up from the hotel at 6 a.m to begin our journey to the village of Cachora. During our journey we will stop a moment to observe the archaeological remains of Tarawasi from the bus, continuing thereafter towards the Cunyac Bridge between the provinces of Cusco and Apurimac. Next we will travel through the district of Curawasi and Saywite, arriving at Cachora at about 10 a.m. We will begin our trek from this area, along sloping paths leading to the pass of Capuliyoc (2800 meters abopve sea level) where after a two hour walk we will stop for lunch. Then we will continue our journey to the town of Chaquisqa which will take about three hours (1930 meters above sea level). The whole course to Chaquisqa is downhill and the landscape is awesome and the weather is warm. Our first camp will be setup here.
After breakfast (5:00 am), we will continue our walk towards Playa Rosalina (1550 meters above sea level), followed by an early climb up the hill towards Santa Rosa (2100 meters above sea level) where we stop for lunch. This part of the journey is the hardest. After we will walk for three hours to climb up to the Maranpata (2850 meters above sea level), that is an easier climb. During our journey we will observe the vegetation existing in the area. Later, we will journey along a straight section towards Sunchupata, where we will camp. Trekking time is two hours.
Very early and after breakfast (5:00 am) we will travel towards Choquequirao, which is a one-hour walk to see the sunrise and where we will remain for three hours in the company of a guide who will provide you with all the details about this important Inka refuge. At the scheduled time, we will begin our return to Sunchupata, descending to Santa Rosa, where we stop for lunch. Thereafter we will continue descending to Playa Rosalina that takes about an hour. Upon our arrival at Rosalina we will continue our journey to the village of Chaquisqa, two hours away from Rosalina, where we will spend the night.
A hearty breakfast shall be served in Chaquisqa (06:00 am), after which we will return along the same route to Cachora which is the slope we descended on the first day and which is a smoother climb of two hours until we reach the pass of Capuliyoc. From here, it takes another two hours to reach the village of Cachora along a smoother route, arriving at 12:00 am approximately. During our journey we will observe the exotic flora and fauna as well as majestic snowcapped peaks and the impressive canyon of the Apurimac. In the afternoon we will travel to the hot springs of Qonoq where we will remain for one hour and continue later on our journey to the city of Cusco. Upon our arrival in Cusco at 8 p.m you will be transferred to the hotel. Here you will spend the night.
The day starts with an early morning transfer to Cusco train station for a four hour train journey to the famous Inka City of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost City of the inkas". You will arrive at Aguas Calientes station and to follow will be a 30 minute bus drive, climbing 6km of winding roads untill you reach the incredible Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, we´ll participate in a guided tour of the City, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour you will have time to stroll around the archaeological site at your leisure. We will then take the bus back to Aguas calientes for lunch and then take an afternoon train back to Cusco and then transfer you back to your hotel.
Early in the morning we will transfer you back to the airport to take a flight to Lima. Upon your arrival we will pick you up and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon we will take the city tour of the "City of Kings" including the Historical Center of Lima, visiting Main Square, Government Palace, City Hall, the Cathedral (where the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, conqueror of Peru, is located), Cathedral´s Museum, Temple of Santo Domingo (tombs of Santa Rosa and San Martin), Temple of San Pedro, Lima Colonial Balconies, Torre Tagle Palace, Paseo de Aguas and Convent de los Descalzos. Then, we will drive through the residential district of San Isidro, visiting El Olivar Park; Miraflores, visiting the Kennedy Park, Love Park and Larcomar Mall. We will then return to your hotel where you will stay the night.
Early in the morning we will transfer you back to the airport for your flight.
