We will pick you up upon your arrival in Lima and transfer to your selected hotel. You will then have some free time to rest and prepare for starting your trip around this magical country. You will stay overnight in Lima.
Early in the morning we will transfer you to the airport to take a flight to Arequipa. Upon arrival, we will transfer you to the hotel. In the afternoon we start a three hour city tour that visits Santa Catalina Convent, the Plaza de Armas, the Jesuits church of La Compañía and its beautifully-painted chapel, the Church of San Francisco, San Lazaro's. Modern districts of Selva Alegre and the typical of Cayma and Yanahuara, for a magnificent view of the Misti Volcano.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will depart by bus on your excursion towards the Colca Canyon, driving across Pampa Cañahuas at the Aguada Blanca National Reserve, habitat of herds of vicuñas and stopping at the Mirador de los Andes, the crater of Chucura and the Mirador de Chivay, where beautiful pre-columbian terraces still being cultivated by native Collaguas can be observed. We will arrive to the town of Chivay at 13:00hrs. approx. We will then transfer you to your selected lodge where we will have a packed lunch. In the afternoon we will have some free time to visit the hot springs.
Early in the morning we will depart to the "Condor's Cross" from where the great andean bird, the Condor, may be spotted flying in circles above still farmed green pre-hispanic terraces. We will enjoy the impressive panorama of the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the world (3,000mts). On the way back to Chivay we will visit to the Mirador of Chinina, where we will find the famous Hanging Tombs and the Hanging Bridge of Sifón that joins the town of Yanque with Coporaque. At the town of Yanque we will visit the beautiful church and its characteristic stone streets among other attractions. We will then drive to the observation points of Choquetipo and Artahuilque and also to the town of Maca. After we will have lunch at a local restaurant and then return to the city of Arequipa, arriving at 18:00hrs approx. Here we will stay overnight at your selected hotel.
Early in the morning we will transfer you to the airport to take a flight to Cusco. Upon arrival we will transfer you to the hotel. You will have a free morning to rest and acclimatize to the alltitude. In the afternoon we will take you on a city tour of cusco visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. We will have a pleasant walk in the bohemian district of San Blas, where you will find the most famous arts and crafts of Cusco. We will visit its beautiful church to admire its impressive carved wooden pulpit, with images of local fruits and carved filigree. After we will visit some art shops in the small square of San Blas. We will then return to the centre of Cusco, we will go down the street 'Hatunrumiyoc' which has the famous Twelve-angled stone. Then we will leave the city to visit the Inka sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, built strategically on a hill overlooking Cusco; famous for its enormous carved stones joined with astounding precision to form the outer walls. Some of these stones stand over 9m / 30ft tall and weigh over 350 tons. You will have a free night to yourself.
The day starts with an early morning transfer to Cusco train station for a four hour train journey to the famous Inka City of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost City of the inkas". You will arrive at Aguas Calientes station and to follow will be a 30 minute bus drive, climbing 6km of winding roads untill you reach the incredible Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, we´ll participate in a guided tour of the City, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour you will have time to stroll around the archaeological site at your leisure. We will then take the bus back to Aguas calientes for lunch and then take an afternoon train back to Cusco and then transfer you back to your hotel.
Today will be an excursion to the "Sacred Valley of the Inkas", a succession of picturesque towns, agricultural terraces and archaeological sites. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, we´ll have the opportunity to bargain with vendors at the Pisac typical Indian market, with a catholic mass service on Sunday (celebrated in Quechua, the native language). Lunch will be at a local restaurant. In the afternoon we will pass through Calca and Urubamba to arrive to the Inka Fortress and City of Ollantaytambo, which was built to guard the entry of this part of the valley and protect it from enemies of the lower jungles; consisting of a series of terraces of carved stones accessed by long staircases. We will have the opportunity to walk through the quaint streets of the nearby town, religious and agricultural centre from the Inka Empire. You will get a clear idea as to how strategically important this military base was. On our way back to Cusco we will visit the picturesque Andean village of Chinchero where the remains of what was the royal hacienda of Tupac Inka Yupanqui lies. You will also get to admire its well preserved inka Wall at the Main Square and visit the beautiful colonial temple built on inka foundations, with interesting frescoes on the portico. We will arrive back to Cusco in the afternoon.
