We will pick you up upon your arrival in Lima and transfer to your selected hotel. You will then have some free time to rest and prepare for starting your trip around this magical country. You will stay overnight in Lima.
Early in the morning we will transfer you back to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival we will transfer you to the hotel. You will have a free morning to rest and acclimatize to the alltitude. In the afternoon we will take you on a city tour of cusco visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. We will have a pleasant walk in the bohemian district of San Blas, where you will find the most famous arts and crafts of Cusco. We will visit its beautiful church to admire its impressive carved wooden pulpit, with images of local fruits and carved filigree. After we will visit some art shops in the small square of San Blas. We will then return to the centre of Cusco, we will go down the street 'Hatunrumiyoc' which has the famous Twelve-angled stone. Then we will leave the city to visit the Inka sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, built strategically on a hill overlooking Cusco; famous for its enormous carved stones joined with astounding precision to form the outer walls. Some of these stones stand over 9m / 30ft tall and weigh over 350 tons. You will have a free night to yourself.
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel very early in the morning to take a bus to the town of Chilca to begin your trek along the Inka Trail to Machu Picchu. After approximately three hours walking we will stop for lunch. Then we will continue walking towards your first camp at Wayllabamba, on the way you will have a guided tour of the archeological complex of Llactapata. We will have dinner and stay overnight in tents.
After breakfast, the toughest part of the trail will begin, walking towards the highest point in the Inka Trail where you will have an unbelievable panoramic view of the whole area and will observe different types of microclimates. After a 3 hour walk you will reach the first pass, named Warmiwañusca or Dead Woman's Pass, at approximately 4,200 meters above sea level. Here, you will have a tremendous feeling of achievement mixed with relief for reaching the top. After lunch you will continue your walk down to Pacaymayu where you will camp and have dinner.
After breakfast we will start the descent towards the second most important pass of the trail at 3,850 meters above sea level. We will have a guided visit to the archaeological complex of Runkurakay and the Inka city of Sayacmarca. After we will Continue trekking towards Puyu Patamarka (Cloud-level town), another important archaeological monument, where lunch will be served. After a short break you will continue walking to Wiñay Huayna (Forever Young) for a guided visit of this impressive archaeological complex with a spectacular setting. Here we will have dinner and camp overnight.
This day is the most expected one on our excursion. We wake up very early and after breakfast we start our final part of the trek. After 2 hours of trekking we arrive at Inti Punku (meaning Sun Gate) where we have the first beautiful view of Machu Picchu in all its brilliance. In Machupicchu we will start with the guided tour of 2.5 hours where our guide will lead you across this historical wonder. The guide will be giving you the necessary explanations on principal remains and monuments, such as the Principal Plaza, the Temple of Three Windows, Intiwatana, The Quarter of the Mortars, The Temple of the Condor, the cemeteries and enclosures, sacred sources, and the urban and agricultural sector. Afterwards you will have free time to continue admiring this amazing historical site and of course take plenty of photos. Between the activities suggested for this day you can conquer Waynapicchu Mountain and enjoy the landscape. Following the visit to Machu Picchu, we will visit Aguas Calientes and spend some time in this very romantic little village. In the afternoon we will be taking the train back to Cusco. We will then transfer you to your hotel.
Early in the morning we will transfer you to the airport to take your flight back to Lima.
