Itinerary:

Day 1: Welcome to Cusco!

• Transfer from airport to hotel.
• Free time for acclimation.
• Evening briefing at Alpaca Expeditions headquarters.

Day 2: Sacred Valley of the Incas

• Tour of Sacred Valley.
• Stops at El Mirador and Pisac ruins.
• Lunch at local Andean restaurant.
• Visit Ollantaytambo ruins.
• Overnight in Ollantaytambo.

Day 3: Inca Trail Hike – Day 1 (Piscacucho to Ayapata)

• Pickup and transfer to Inca Trail start.
• Trek highlights, group photo, and orientation.
• Visit first Inca site and hike to Wiñay Wayna.
• Campsite lunch, rest, and trek to the Sun Gate.
• Descend to Machu Picchu, explore, and bus to Aguas Calientes.
• Dinner at Indio Feliz.

Day 4: Visit to Machu Picchu & Return to Cusco

• Early bus to catch sunrise at Machu Picchu.
• Guided tour and free exploration.
• Optional climb to Huayna Picchu.
• Bus or walk to Aguas Calientes and return to Cusco.

Day 5: Rainbow Mountain

• Pickup for Rainbow Mountain hike at 4:00-4:30 am.
• Breakfast at trailhead and 2-hour uphill hike.
• Explore Rainbow Mountain and descend to Red Valley.
• Lunch and return to Cusco by 4:30-5:30 pm.

Day 6: Cusco to Puerto Maldonado

• Flight to Puerto Maldonado (arrive by noon).
• Canoe trip up Tambopata River to lodge.
• Introductory walk in “terra firme” forest.
• Night walk to find nocturnal animals.

Day 7: Amazon Jungle

• Morning exploration of Condenado lake.
• Afternoon: forest exploration or relaxation.
• Night canoe trip to find caiman.

Day 8: Amazon Jungle

• Boat ride and trail exploration to hidden lake.
• Lunch and free time for relaxation.
• Night activities: wildlife watching and caiman search.

Day 9: Amazon Jungle & Return to Lima

• Morning activities based on flight schedule.
• Flight to Lima and transfer to hotel.
• No further activities planned.

Day 10: Goodbye!

• Transfer to airport for departure.

  • Steep descent, not recommended for those scared of heights.
  • Cost: $75.
  • Arrangements at least one month in advance due to popularity.
  • Weather conditions are beyond control.
