Tour Itinerary
DAY 1: Cusco – Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu
(A Luxury Inca Trail Experience Operated Exclusively by Machupicchu Trek)
Your elite journey begins with a private 4:30 AM hotel pickup in Cusco. Relax in the comfort of your private vehicle during the scenic 2-hour drive to Ollantaytambo, where you will enjoy a carefully selected breakfast at a local restaurant, ensuring a refined start to your luxury Inca Trail experience.
After breakfast, a private transfer will escort you to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the elegant Vistadome train, offering panoramic views as you travel to the Inca Trail trailhead at Km 104 (2,100 m / 6,890 ft).
From the checkpoint, your expert guide will lead you on a 3-hour ascent toward the remarkable archaeological complex of Wiñay Wayna (2,650 m / 8,694 ft). This sacred site, renowned for its terraces, fountains, and spiritual significance, represents one of the most important Inca constructions along the trail. Your private guide will bring history to life with detailed and culturally enriched explanations.
A short walk from Wiñay Wayna brings you to your private gourmet lunch, freshly prepared on-site for optimal comfort and energy. Enjoy a relaxing break before continuing toward Machu Picchu.
The afternoon leads you to the legendary Inti Punku – Sun Gate (2,720 m / 8,924 ft), where you will enjoy your first breathtaking panoramic view of Machu Picchu. This magical moment, framed by the golden afternoon light, is one of the most unforgettable highlights of the Luxury Inca Trail.
Today, you will not enter Machu Picchu. After ample time for photography, a comfortable private transfer will take you to your hotel for the night: the distinguished Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, our primary hotel choice, located at the entrance of Machu Picchu and offering unparalleled convenience, exclusivity, and luxury.
Important Note on Accommodation:
