Tour Overview

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Orientation
Morning / Afternoon: Fly from Cusco or Lima to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival, our team will transfer you to Refugio Amazonas Lodge (approx. 45 minutes by boat and road).
Afternoon: Orientation session at the lodge covering safety procedures, itinerary overview, and a brief introduction to local flora and fauna.
Evening: Embark on a nighttime Caiman spotting expedition along the river using headlamps and expert guidance.
Accommodation: Refugio Amazonas Lodge

Tip: Bring insect repellent, a flashlight, and waterproof clothing. Nighttime excursions are cooler; a light jacket is recommended.
Day 2: Canopy Tower & Ethnobotanical Exploration
Early Morning: Canoe trip along the oxbow lake for birdwatching. Spot macaws, parrots, herons, and other exotic species from the water.
Mid-Morning: Climb the Canopy Tower (approx. 30 ft / 9 m high) for panoramic views of the rainforest and wildlife spotting.
Afternoon: Visit a local farm and participate in an Ethnobotanical tour, learning about medicinal plants and their traditional uses.
Evening: Attend a lecture on Amazon conservation projects and sustainable community initiatives.

Early Morning: Visit the parrot clay lick at dawn, a rare opportunity to see hundreds of parrots and macaws feeding on clay—a spectacular photo opportunity.
Late Morning / Afternoon: Hike the Brazil Nut Trail, learn about harvesting practices, and visit a mammal clay lick to spot tapirs, peccaries, and other forest mammals.
Evening: Participate in a night walk to observe nocturnal mammals, frogs, and insects under the guidance of experienced naturalists.

Day 4: Return to Puerto Maldonado
Morning: Boat transfer back to Puerto Maldonado. Observe the rainforest from the river and spot wildlife along the banks.
Afternoon: Fly back to Cusco or Lima according to your flight schedule.

VERY IMPORTANT:
Foreign and Peruvian passengers with no residence in Peru are exonerated of the payment of The General Sale Taxes; to get it, they must present the original passport and the Andean Migration Card (TAM) at each hotel considered in the program. It accepts the passports or identity card to foreign passengers with no residence coming from Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Chile. The entry date to the country in both cases can´t pass 60 days. The order of excursions and service schedules may change. The schedules indicated in this itinerary are for reference only; the operations staff of the visited city will provide the definitive schedules. The passenger pays extra expenses at the travel destination.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY:
SERVICES:
Cancellations between 30 days previous to the travel date apply 100% penalty. No refund will be considered. Cancellations from 31 days to 90 days previous to the travel date apply 50% penalty of payment. Cancellations from 91 days previous to the travel date apply 35% penalty by administrative expenses. Once the package sale is closed, any change or modification is subjected to 35% penalty for administrative expenses + ticket rate difference according to availability for the new travel date. Some services can be interrupted or may be canceled due to weather conditions or other reasons out of provider control and responsibility. No refund would be considered for this type of interruption or cancellation.
TRANSPORTATION:
Refunds, change of traveler’s name for transportation such as airlines, trains, buses, cruises, etc., are subject of each provider’s policy.
NOTE: Some providers have more strict policy in case of groups. Programs applies 100% penalty since reservation and payment are done
